ABOUT EMILY JOY
I am 28 years old & a new mom to my awesome son, Oliver. Photography for me is a way to express my emotions & creativity. I loved art from a very young age. As a child I loved to draw, decorate & had a style that went against the usual grain of things. I grew up on many acres of wild blueberry fields in Maine. My childhood shaped a lot of who I am today. I love the simplicty of an old run down farmhouse to wind blowing in a large field. My heart rests easy in these enviroments. It wasn't until I was in my early 20's however that I got my first camera. That is when photography stole my heart.
Growing up in Maine, I remember going to local small businesses to buy bread and homemade chocolates down to old fashion cake donuts. I was always drawn to the customer bond in small business & fell into the small business world as an adult. I onced owned a quaint little candy store, then went onto being a general manager for a local bakery in Portland, Maine. Therefore it only seems fitting to say that food photography is dear to my heart.
I prefer shooting with a 50mm lens & enjoy photographs with a deep depth of field. I love to work with people, too! People bring a new excitement & vibe into my photography. I like to blend our styles to make the session represent them as well as myself. I hope to keep learning, working with others & digging deeper into my passion. A picture really is worth a thousand words. Pictures are my journal in life.
